You are invited to attend and cover The People’s Candidate Town Hall #PowerToThePolls Congressional District 1.
Join Our Revolution Chico and the Women’s March on Chico this Saturday, January 27th, from 1pm-4pm at the Chico Women’s Club (592 E. 3rd St, Chico) for a town hall-style gathering to meet the current candidates running against Congressman Doug LaMalfa.
2018 Congressional candidates Audrey Denney (D), Jessica Holcombe (D), Lewis Elbinger (G), and Marty Walters (D) will participate in a Q & A from voters and answer an array of questions about issues important to the people of the north state.
Co-Moderating the event will be Dave Waddell and Sonia Aery.
Dave is a professor emeritus in the Chico State Department of Journalism. He worked for 20 years for daily newspapers before joining the CSUC faculty. For 15 years, Dave served as an adviser to the award-winning student newspaper, The Orion. Waddell was twice honored by Chico State for his diversity recruitment efforts and is now focusing on investigative reporting as ChicoSol's news director.
Sonia Aery has worked on economic policy development and financial security issues in Northern CA for over the last ten years. A dedicated advocate of grassroots change and civic engagement, Sonia stays active with local groups such as Safe Space, Catalyst Domestic Violence Services and was on the planning committee for Women’s March on Chico 2018. Sonia has a degree in Community & Regional Development from UC Davis and a Masters in City & Regional Planning from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. She is the owner and principal of the Allstate Insurance: Sonia Aery Agency.
We will facilitate a town hall where the people can ask real questions, get real answers, get involved and properly vet the candidates. With an energetic voting base this midterm election cycle 2018, this event is an opportunity for voters to hear more from progressive candidates as they choose someone that represents their communities and policies of our growing North State.
This event is presented by Our Revolution Chico in partnership with Women’s March on Chico. This will be first in a series of independent town halls by local progressive communities who are demanding action. Event is free, disabled accessible, and light refreshments will be provided.
The People’s Candidate Town Hall- #Power To The Polls Congressional District 1 event is grassroots and labor donated, and does not endorse any political party or candidate.
